Simulating Twelve Migrant Populations

Increase understanding

Migrant Populations

Primary Resources

Because no two migrant experiences are the same, Walk-A-Mile In My Shoes has role-play scenarios and backgrounder information on twelve different migrant populations.  These diverse role-play scenarios allow participants to explore the wide range of migrant experiences, while deepening their awareness of and compassion for one particular group.

Each population bio and role play scenario has been developed from an actual migrant experience (note: names of migrants have been changed). Each migrant population has a separate information page providing everything needed to effectively play the role of the population and develop a deeper understanding of the historical context leading to their flight and their unique cultural characteristics. Each page consists of;

  • a brief overview
  • statistics/data
  • historical background information
  • cultural information,
  • resettlement information
  • videos and pictures, and
  • resources for more information and education
